About Martín

Classical Guitarist.

 

Member of “Compañía de Teatro a Vapor” and guitarist in the musical project of chilean songwriter Ignacia Torres. During the first half of 2022 his debut album, Cantar el Olvido, will be published.

He began his musical studies with the composer Francisco C. Goldschmidt. In 2011 he enters the Conservatory of Music of the Universidad Mayor to start studying classical guitar with Romilio Orellana, finishing his studies under the guidance of Alexis Vallejos. In parallel, he has expanded his training receiving master classes and advice from teachers such as Fabio Zanon (Brazil), Guillem Perez-Quer (Spain), Pablo Márquez (Argentina), Alessio Nebiolo (Italy), Luis Orlandini and José Antonio Escobar (Chile), among others.


He has excelled in national and international competitions receiving distinctions such as 1st place in the Liliana Perez Corey National Guitar Competition (2017, senior category, where in 2013 he also received 3rd place in the youth category) and being a finalist in the competition of the International Guitar Seminar of Uruguay in 2016.

Concert activity

He has participated in groups such as the Orquesta de Guitarras de Chile (2015-2016, as leader) and the guitar quartet Mestiza (2015-2017), as well as being part of and collaborating in chamber ensembles with various instruments. He has performed successfully as a soloist and as part of these ensembles in venues in Chile (GAM, Espacio Matta, Museo Arte Colonial San Francisco, Teatro El Zócalo, etc), Argentina (Hostería La Caldera in Salta), Uruguay (Parque de Vacaciones AGADU) and Switzerland (Lugano, Festival Ticino Música).

2019 - 2021

His interest in interdisciplinary practice in the arts led him to participate as a musician in the Compañía de Teatro a Vapor, with which he premiered “Nina, Cartografía de la Infancia”.
He is currently working on projects with Teatro a Vapor, as well as working as a guitarist in the project of singer-songwriter Ignacia Torres, participating in chamber music ensembles and performing as a solo musician.

Discography

Thanks to the funding of the chilean Ministery of Culture, Martín is currently working in the production of his debut album “Cantar el olvido“. The recording includes exclusively chilean music for guitar, articulated around the concept of memory. It will available during the first half of 2022.
